The History of Bob's
Bob's Sewing and Vacuum Center has been in business since 1980, when Bruce Dickinson purchased an existing business from Bob Schultz at Princess Jeanne Shopping Center. Sewing classes and newsletter were started in 1986. Relocated in September of 1988 to our present location at 1641 Eubank NE. Opened 2nd location near Coors and Alameda, 3551 Hwy 528 NW Albuquerque in July 1993. The west side store was designed from the ground up to be a Sewing and Vacuum Center with probably the largest dedicated classroom in the state.
Passion for Business and Our Clients
Bob’s is a family owned an operated business. Bruce Dickinson started with the Kirby vacuum company with his family in 1960 until 1980 when he purchased the Bob’s store. Kelly Dickinson started in 1985 and brought Bob’s into the computer age, he has achieved a very good accounting background. Kelly is the comptroller for both stores, and the Eubank store Manager. Kevin Dickinson started in 1989 and is now one of the best sewing machine technicians in the country. Kevin attends seminars for many brands of sewing and serger machines. Kevin is the repair shop manager for the Bob’s stores and is the West side Store manager.
I am fortunate to have many very good employees and teachers full and part time. Without their help this passion I have would not be as much fun.
